Bullying is unfortunately not a new phenomenon and many adults will have witnessed it in their own childhood or experienced first-hand the ugly face of bullying and the distress and hurt it can cause to anyone who is been subjected to this physical or mental torment.
Sadly, bullying has evolved for a digital age and we now have the spectre of cyberbullying to contend with.
It is estimated that one in four teens have actually been cyberbullied and the unfortunate consequences of being a victim are that you are then more likely to use drugs or alcohol, miss school and achieve lower grades, or even contemplate suicide in some of the worst examples.
There is no question that cyberbullying is a major problem and it is important to understand what it is and the many forms it takes, so that parents can take action where needed to protect their child from this all-too familiar issue.
